Tybalt's Dreamscape
Note: This Dreamscape contains spoilers for Ashes of Honor and the short story Rat-catcher.
The dreamscape starts with you in the audience of the old Duke's Theatre in London. It looks like it did in 1666, and the stage seems to be set up for Romeo and Juliet. It's quiet and dead and there's a pretty young Cait Sidhe girl on the stage, dressed in 17th century clothing, with white and gray tabby colored hair. This is Jill, Tybalt's younger sister. As you approach her (and you will, because the aisles are blocked off by dream magic), she'll disappear backstage and the curtains will fall. Pushing back the curtains will take you to his Court--an old 1930s barn. There's two cats sitting on the floor: a calico and a young Abyssinian tom with russet fur. The calico is Tybalt's other sister, Colleen, and the tom is his heir, Raj. When you approach them, they'll split off into two different doorways.
Here's where things get tricky.
If you follow Raj: you'll be lead to the entrance of an alleyway in San Fransisco at night. There's piles of mattresses and ratty old tapestries hanging everywhere. It's deserted, except for Raj who runs out of the alley and into the city. Follow him, and you'll end up in an old convent. At this point you can continue to chase the cat and go from convent to garret to burned out bakery to abandoned warehouse or any other "lost" place and eventually wind up back at the Theatre. If you chose to follow a different path and go your own way, you'll get more and more confused and turned around, tripping over cats and being hissed at from the shadows until you're eventually set upon by the members of Tybalt's Court. You'll black out, and wind up back at the Theatre.
Occasionally, if you follow Raj back to the Theatre, you'll see other cats, occasionally other Faeries. Right before the end, though, you'll see Tybalt in 19th century clothing holding a young human woman close. A little girl will be playing nearby. The woman is Anne and the girl is the daughter they never had. If you stop to stare, though, Anne and the girl will fade away and be replaced by Toby, a woman who looks a lot like her, a shockingly handsome young man, and Raj's humanoid shape. Approaching them will take you straight to Toby's dream.
If you follow Colleen: you'll be taken to an old Spanish galleon and a vicious Cait Sidhe. Every step you take towards him causes you pain, sets part of the ship on fire, and causes the Cait Sidhe to laugh (this is Ainmire, Tybalt's adopted father). Off to the side, you can see Jill's body. Before you get to the King, the ship will burst into flames and you'll be shoved into the Shadow Roads. These are literally pure shadow--cold and dark and solid. If you try to breathe in, they'll suffocate you. It'll only be a few seconds, though it might feel like hours, and then you'll be back at the Theatre.
All throughout the dream, there'll be shadows where there shouldn't be and cat eyes in all that shadow. If you're not Toby, they don't like you.
Back at the Theatre, the curtains are still closed and Tybalt's asleep in front of them, lounging on a pile of mattresses. He'll wake up if anyone says anything or approaches him. Every so often, a ghost of any of the people you saw might appear and let you see a memory. If the ghost of someone asleep in the city appears, that will take you to their Dreamscape if you want. If you don't, you're more than welcome to stay and ask questions of Tybalt (no promises on getting answers) or just chill.
People You May See in Tybalt's Dreamscape
His niece, Juliet--a tiger striped Cait Sidhe who dies her hair candy red. It shows on her fur.
September Torquill--a tall woman with bright red hair and yellow eyes. She's a Daoine Sidhe.
Sylvester Torquill--September's brother. They have the same hair.
Samson--Raj's father. It doesn't matter what he looks like, because he'll swing at you if you try to get a good look at him.
Rand--Tybalt himself, only much younger and in 17th century clothing. He won't respond to "Tybalt" and will just lead you back to Raj if you get too distracted trying to talk to him. If you do hit on his name (aka if you're Toby/with Toby) he'll be surprised you know it, but that's it.
